The field is set for the $100,000 Arlington Matron Stakes from Arlington Park. The Grade 3 event will be contested at a mile and an eighth on the synthetic main track and has drawn a field of eleven fillies and mares. 
The 2016 edition of the Preakness Stakes will be held on Saturday, May 21 at Pimlico Race Course and the field has begun to take shape. The official draw will be held on Wednesday, but the undefeated Nyquist will be the favorite as he attempts to win the second leg of the Triple Crown. 
At the conclusion of every Kentucky Derby, it seems like there's barely time for a deep breath before the handicapping and general interest conversation turns to the Preakness with two looming question: can the winner repeat and who's he going to face? 
On Friday at Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Oaks Day action will continue with the $150,000 Edgewood Stakes. Scheduled to be run at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf, the Grade 3 event has drawn a field of thirteen three-year-old fillies. 
More is made of the post position draw in the Kentucky Derby than in any other race run in North America – and with good reason. With the annual 20-horse stampede set to ensue May 7 at Churchill Downs, several contenders could already be facing an uphill battle following the draw scheduled for May 3. 
On Saturday at Aqueduct, the track will host the $100,000 Woodhaven Stakes. Restricted to three-year-olds, the race is scheduled to be run at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf and has drawn a field of nine colts and geldings. 
As the final major prep for the Kentucky Derby, the $1 million Arkansas Derby April 16 could reveal much about the Run for the Roses as the field of 12 is set for the mile and an eighth battle in Hot Springs. 
On Sunday at Santa Anita, the track will host the $100,000 Las Cienegas Stakes. Scheduled to be run at about six and a half furlongs on the downhill turf, the Grade 3 event has drawn a field of eleven fillies and mares. 
On Saturday at Gulfstream Park, the track will host the $300,000 Honey Fox Stakes. Restricted to fillies and mares, the Grade 2 will be held at one mile on the turf and has drawn a field of eight.
