Catch a Glimpse Looms as Favorite in $150,000 Edgewood Stakes
On Friday at Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Oaks Day action will continue with the $150,000 Edgewood Stakes. Scheduled to be run at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf, the Grade 3 event has drawn a field of thirteen three-year-old fillies.
Catch a Glimpse tops the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 2-1 for trainer Mark Casse. A chestnut daughter of City Zip, she has won five of her six starts and capped off her two-year-old season with an impressive victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1). This year, she is two for two and was last seen winning the Appalachian Stakes (G3) at Keeneland. Regular rider Florent Geroux will be aboard and they will break from post position ten.
Ava's Kitten trying to turn the tables on Catch a Glimpse
Second choice at morning line odds of 7-2 is Ava’s Kitten for trainer Chad Brown. Bred and owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey, the chestnut daughter of Kitten’s Joy has been on the board in four of her six starts and is trying to earn her third victory. She was second behind Catch a Glimpse last time out and will be trying for her first graded stakes win. Javier Castellano will be aboard from post position five.
Step up in class for Harmonize off win
Also in the field at morning line odds of 4-1 is Harmonize for trainer William Mott. A bay daughter of Scat Daddy, she was purchased for $80,000 as a yearling and has won three of her five starts. She made her seasonal debut a winning one in a minor stakes race at Gulfstream Park and has been training forwardly since that effort. Junior Alvarado will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
