A four-year-old son of Medaglia d’Oro owned and bred by Frank Calabrese, he has been on the board in four of his five starts and will be making his first start since finishing fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) in November. He has been training steadily in Florida for his return to the races and will be trying to earn the first stakes win of his career under jockey Michael Ritvo from the rail.
Breitling Flyer trying for first stakes victory
Breitling Flyer has been tabbed as the second choice at 7-2 on the morning line for trainer Enrique Sanchez. Winner of three of his 22 starts, the four-year-old son of Ghostzapper is aiming for the first black type victory of his career and comes into this race off of an optional claiming victory in May at Gulfstream Park. Luca Panici will be in the irons and they will break from the outside post.
Mr. Amos trying to return to competitive form
Also in the field at morning line odds of 12-1 is the long shot Canadian-bred Mr. Amos for trainer Randi Persaud. A sophomore son of Where’s the Ring, he has won two of his nine career starts and will be trying to rebound after finishing sixth in both starts this year. He is stepping back up to stakes competition and will have Eddie Dominguez aboard from post position five.
