On Saturday at Parx Racing, the featured race is the $100,000 Pennsylvania Nursery Stakes. Restricted to two-year-olds bred in Pennsylvania, the race has drawn a field of ten colts and geldings.
Nasa has been installed as the morning line favorite at 5-2 for trainer Jason Servis. A bay son of Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, he broke his maiden two starts back as the favorite against open company at Laurel as the favorite after finishing second against state-bred competition in his debut. He was third as the heavy favorite last time out in the Christopher Elser Memorial. Regular rider Kendrick Carmouche will remain aboard and they will break from post five.
Flagndini going for two in a row after maiden score
Second choice at 7-2 on the morning line is Flagndini for Ramon Preciado. A dark bay gelded son of Bandini, he will be making his first try against stakes competition. He broke his maiden last time out in his career debut over a field of eight state-bred rivals including the morning line favorite, Nasa. After no recorded workouts in the month of October, he trained steadily through November. Robbie Alvarado, Jr. will be in the irons from post eight.
Love Rules making stakes debut after front-running win
Also in the field and a longshot at 12-1 on the morning line is Love Rules, a homebred for trainer Michael Gorham’s Old Coach Farm. By Not For Love, the chestnut colt is out of the stakes winning mare Rules R Rules who also carried the green and yellow silks of Old Coach Farm in her career. Love Rules is taking on winners for the first time after breaking his maiden in his fourth career outing last time out in a front-running effort as the favorite. Jose Delgadillo will be aboard from post nine.
