Papacoolpapacool Goes for Third Straight in $75,000 La Puente Stakes

Philip D’Amato will saddle Papacoolpapacool as the morning line favorite at odds of 9-5. A gelded son of Temple City, he has won three of his seven career starts and comes into this race off of back-to-back victories on the turf at Santa Anita. He was last seen winning the Pasadena Stakes over a field of eight rivals. He has had several workouts since that race and will have Gary Stevens aboard for the first time from post position two.

Hero Ten All trying the lawn for the first time

Second choice at 7-2 on the morning line is Hero Ten All for trainer Jeff Mullins. A bay son of Rock Hard Ten, the colt has been on the shelf since finishing fourth in the Robert B. Lewis (G3) and will be switching surfaces to the turf for the first time after competing on dirt in all four starts. He broke his maiden as a juvenile at Los Alamitos and has been training on the turf recently. Tyler Baze will remain aboard and they will break from post four.

Ride Hard Kowboy making California debut 

Also in the field at morning line odds of 4-1 is Ride Hard Kowboy for trainer Molly Pearson. A gelded son of Kodiak Kowboy, he will be making his first start outside of Arizona where he has won half of his six starts. He was last seen winning the Tempe Handicap by a neck as the favorite over a field of nine rivals. Drayden Van Dyke will be aboard for the first time and they are scheduled to break from the outside post.
